Sean Hannity's Mea Culpa [12 Nov 2009|10:56am]

thedailyshow

[victor_the_crab]
Last night on his show, Sean Hannity talked about Jon calling him out for using stock footage of an earlier, larger teabagging rally on Washington to describe the size of the more recent rally this past weekend.

Hannity admitted it was a mistake to use it:

"And although it pains me to say this, Jon Stewart, Comedy Central, he was right. Now on his program last night, he mentioned that we had played some inccorect video on this program last week while talking about the Republican health care rally on Capitol Hill. He was correct, we screwed up. we aired some video of a rally in september along with a video from the actual event. It was an inadverdent mistake, but a mistake none the less. So, Mr. Stewart, you were right. We apologize. But by the way, we wanna thank you and all your writers for watching."

Popular culture is being spoon fed into the mouths of drones, none daring or conscious enough [11 Nov 2009|10:33am]

there are so many people in this world that accept what is presented to them without any question or further thought. are they merely podsnaps or do they have a greater sense of trust in the world than i? if anything, i am happy to know so many people in my life that are actually conscious- thinking, feeling, living, breathing. questioning. though, there is no absolute truth about the world that may come from conscious, aware thought. there is only the truths that one can uncover about oneself and, the more known about the self is quite possibly the same as knowing more about the world in which we live. because, you see, the self is the only tool through which we may connect, interpret, and experience what the world presents to us.

this isn't new. this has been going on for a thousand years.

i am so hungry for artistic expression right now. it's not even funny. the only problem is i don't want to have anything to do with stillness or the inorganic. i want to be outside painting, drawing, photographing- maybe even writing. i want movement, i want clouds and light and natural life.

i'm thinking tuesday, when i get out of class, i'm going to go to huntington central park and spend the afternoon with nature.

i watched a bunch of jan svankmajers shorts tonight. he is amazing. also love his film "little otik." i had tried watching "alice" but didn't find it terribly engaging. i'm going to rent "faust" soon though.

i'm thinking about attempting a stop motion animation sometime soon. i have to think up a tale.

I never post here, but I thought I'd share with you a Bowie pic I found on Schtock.

I don't know the context, but I think he's about to whip something out and show all the guys in tuxedos "no, chaps, it's actually not a microphone in my trousers."

Hey, everyone!

I never really introduced myself.  My name is Nadiya, but all my friends call me Notzi.  I've always been a David Bowie fan ever since I was three, but I didn't become a BIG fan until earlier this year.  He's a genius (and hot back in the day, too!  I'm really feelin' the Ziggy period...yum!  I like the Thin White Duke period, too!)  BTW, I love the pics on this site.  Really interesting!  :)  Well, here's my contribution(s).  Glad to be a member!  :)

This is a video I made a while back.  I hope y'all like it!

A Duncan Jones interview. [06 Nov 2009|11:02am]

Not sure if any of you folks are familiar with Robert Llewellyn (of Red Dwarf "Kryten" fame) or his online dealie "Carpool" but he picks up interesting people, drives them somewhere and talks with them about whatever they do for a living, and other things that come up.

Just added is a new one with Duncan, about "Moon" and he does talk about his childhood, including good old dad, and it's pretty hilarious.

Mods - I can add some photos to make it "legal" when I get home from work, I'm not sure if a 24 minute video with Duncan being ridiculously adorkable counts. :P

http://www.llewtube.com/ has more fun videos with some other interesting people, if you care.
